The "Care for the 'Aina; Care for the Self" is a series of SDGS (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) gardening workshops mixed with the knowledge of la'au lapa'au (Hawaiian healing medicine) that will be held throughout the year. As participants engage in caring for native Hawaiian plants on the Chaminade campus, they will also learn some medicinal and cultural uses of the plants featured.
General Schedule:
8:30am - Meet and Greet / Introduction to CIFAL Honolulu Center and plant material
8:45am-9:15am - gardening
9:15am-10am - Create a reef-safe sunscreen using campus la'au
Attire: closed shoes; long pants and long-sleeved shirts; gloves optional
