About this Event
Chaminade University’s Performing Arts Department proudly presents the play Kāmau by Alani Apio. Kāmau tackles complex issues related to Hawaiian Sovereignty, local culture, family relationships, and exploitation of resources. For some, making a living in Hawaii is difficult. Tourism has become the states number one employer and the industry relies on Aloha to differentiate itself. Is the commodification of Aloha and other Native Hawaiian values acceptable? Kāmau asks tough questions and offers tough answers. This virtual online performance will be presented in the style of a graphic novel.
